Constantinos Repapis is an Associate Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of West Attica and an experienced consultant in the seismic design and assessment of building projects. After completing his undergraduate studies as a civil engineer at the National Technical University of Athens (he graduated 8th out of 216 students with a grade of 8.42/10 in 1999) during which he was awarded four scholarships, he received a fellowship from both the Eugenides Foundation of Greece and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) of UK to pursue an MSc and DIC degree in Earthquake Engineering & Structural Dynamics at Imperial College, London (graduated in 2000 with distinction). He gained his Ph.D. in seismic design of reinforced concrete structures from NTUA in 2007.
He has extensive professional experience (since 1999) in structural design and assessment of building structures participating in a number of large projects, among which Olympic Games projects. In 2007 he participated in a case study on the applicability of the Greek Code of Structural Interventions on Reinforced Concrete Buildings (GCSI) and in 2017 in two case studies on the applicability of the Greek Code of Structural Interventions on Masonry Structures.
He is teaching the undergraduate courses “Reinforced Concrete”, “Reinforced Concrete Structures”, “Earthquake Resistant Design II”, “Engineering Seismology and Earthquake Engineering”, he participates in the teaching of “Reinforced Concrete Laboratory” and has supervised more than 80 undergraduate theses.
He is also teaching in the postgraduate programs “Architectural and Structural Restoration of Historical Buildings” and “Seismic and Energy Retrofit in Structure and Sustainable Development”. He is teaching the course “Seismic Design and Assessment of Reinforced Concrete and Masonry Structures”, while until 2021 he was teaching the courses “Computer Modelling and Analysis of Structures” (2014 – 2017), “Earthquake Resistant Structures” (2014 – 2021), “Seismic Evaluation and Rehabilitation of Existing Structures” (2014 – 2021) and participated in the course “Civil Infrastructure Systems” (2018 – 2021). He has supervised more than 20 postgraduate theses.
He is a member of many Greek and international professional and scientific organizations. Member of task group “TG8.1 – Model technical specification for repairs and interventions” of FIB. He has participated in various research projects and post-earthquake reconnaissance teams which travel to earthquake-impacted areas. He is the author of many scientific papers published in international journals and conference proceedings and technical reports as well as a reviewer in many international scientific journals focusing on earthquake engineering. His main research fields are earthquake engineering, engineering seismology, seismic design and assessment of existing structures, concrete structures, masonry structures, and performance-based design.
