CHAPTER 1: ORGANIZATION OF THE INTERNAL FUNCTIONING

Article 1 – Mission

The FLUSP entitled “Artificial Intelligence and Data Science”, hereinafter referred to as “AISDAS”, covers the whole range of fields of Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and their applications. In addition to the global nature of the CSTD, particular emphasis is placed on both the timelessness of the education provided, which is achieved through a continuous emphasis on the basic and fundamental issues of the individual fields of knowledge, and on the specialisation in contemporary issues and cutting-edge technologies resulting from the rapid development of the subject matter.

This BSc has been designed with the scientific and professional activities of the Computer Scientist in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science in mind, the productive and developmental national planning, as well as international trends in these areas.

The graduates of the FLUSP have the necessary skills that will ensure that they will be well trained for their scientific and socio-professional career and development.

Article 2 – Academic constitution

The Department of Informatics and Computer Engineering shall cooperate with the following departments of University of West Attica:

  • Civil Engineering
  • Electrical and Electronic Engineering
  • Food Science and Technology
  • Industrial Design and Production Engineering
  • Surveying and Geoinformatics Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering

for the establishment of the Foreign Language Interdepartmental Undergraduate Program of Studies “Artificial Intelligence and Data Science”, according to the provisions of Law 4957/2022.

The secretarial and administrative support of the Programme is provided by the Department of Computer Engineering and Computer Science of the University of West Attica, which is designated as the supervising department.

Article 3 – Administration of FLUSP

The competent bodies for the organization and operation of the FLUSP are (a) the seven-member Curriculum Committee (CSC), whose composition is determined by the special protocol of cooperation between the host and the cooperating Departments of the University of West Attica and (b) the Director of the FLUSP, who is the Scientific Officer of the Program, according to Article 234 of Law 4957/2022.

Article 4 – Curriculum Committee

The Curriculum Committee of the FLUSP consists of seven (7) members of the faculty of the collaborating Departments, with a subject related to the subject of the FLUSP, of which at least two (2) faculty members are of the rank of Professor or Associate Professor. The Curriculum Committee is composed of four (4) members from the supervising Department of Computer and Information Technology Engineering and one (1) member from the Departments of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Industrial Design and Production Engineering, as these two Departments contribute the most human and material resources of the collaborating Departments. The seventh member of the Committee will be drawn from the other collaborating Departments, following a drawing procedure in which one member from each Department will take part in a rotating manner. If any of the cooperating Departments do not wish to appoint a representative to the EPA, the draw shall be made from among the representatives of the other Departments.

Article 5 – Staff, Teaching, Communication with Students

The staffing needs are covered by the faculty members of the supervising and collaborating departments. Detailed information on staffing, teaching structure and communication with students is available on the website of the FLUSP. The communication of the teachers with students will be done electronically through the eclass platform, announcements, e-mail, as well as during the designated office hours and days listed on the FLUSP website.

Article 6 – Safeguarding the property of the University

All students have the right to use the facilities and resources of the University in the context of completing the activities of the curriculum. At the end of their activities, students are obliged to hand over the facilities and resources provided in perfect condition, as they were made available to them.

Members of the academic community have a duty to protect and preserve the means of education and research, buildings and, in general, all the resources and property of the University so as not to restrict the legitimate right of use and utilization by any member of the academic community.

Article 7 – Library

The University of West Attica has a significant number of books in the three Libraries where students are served. Students and members of the University can also access the electronic services of the library.

Article 8 – Operation of the Secretariat – Issuance of Certificates

The secretariat of the FLUSP is located at the Aigaleo Grove Campus: 28 Ag. Spyridonos St., 12243 Egaleo, Building K16., office K16.015, Ground floor. The contact mail and phone numbers are posted on the FLUSP website. The live service from the Secretariat is available by appointment.

Applications for certificates are made through the student information system, where they are received. Through the same system the student can monitor his/her card. The FLUSP Secretariat issues the following certificates:

  • Certificate of Attendance
  • Certificate of student status
  • Grade report card
  • Certificate of completion of studies
  • Graduation certificate
  • Diploma and diploma supplement

Communication with the secretariat, as well as the exchange of documents (e.g. applications, certificates, certificates, etc.) will be in English.

CHAPTER 2: RULES OF STUDY

Article 9 – Enrollment of first year students

  1. The enrollment of newly admitted students will be done after selection based on the criteria mentioned in the Special Cooperation Protocol, through a special electronic platform of the University of West Attica, under the supervision of the Secretariat.
  2. The institutional codes, which are necessary to enter the University’s electronic platform, are sent to the students via e-mail or SMS (based on the contact details provided in the registration form).
  3. In the electronic platform of the University, these students should complete their online registration by submitting the following documents:
    1. ID card or passport
    2. Student Visa (if required, depending on the student’s country of origin)
    3. Secondary school (High-school) diploma (original and translation to English)
    4. Grades of all the courses of the last grade in secondary school (original and translation in English)
    5. One (1) recent color photo (passport or ID type)
    6. Certificate of English Language Proficiency at B2 or TOEFL level (with a minimum score of 79/120)
  4. After the submission of the supporting documents, the FLUSP Secretariat will send the certificates of study to the registrant(s).
  5. The supporting documents and the deadlines for their submission are specified each year by the FLUSP Secretariat in respective Notices.
  6. In the event that the online registration of an admission candidate(s) is not possible for any reason (e.g. mobile phone number, force majeure, serious illness, military service, natural disaster or any other important reason for which the online registration could not be completed in time), it is possible to register after the deadline for submission of the online application, following a request by the admission candidate, stating the reasons for the delay.In this case, the registration procedure is carried out by submitting the application directly to the FLUSP Secretariat either by physical presence, or by using electronic means (e.g., submission of the application by e-mail or a specially designed platform) or by post. When using electronic means or postal delivery, the completion of the registration requires the submission of a solemn declaration by the successful candidate and applicant for registration, issued through a relevant governmental website of the country of origin, corresponding to the website www.gov.gr or with a physical signature with a certificate of authenticity from a competent authority of the country of origin, stating that all the information and any supporting documents submitted are accurate and true.Late registration must be submitted within a time limit of forty-five (45) days from the closing date for online registration. Registration shall be completed or not, by reasoned decision of the EPA. Any successful applicants who are not registered by this procedure shall lose the above right of registration).

Article 10 – Duration of study

  1. the minimum duration of the Undergraduate Programme of Studies “Artificial Intelligence and Data Science” is four (4) academic years, divided into eight (8) academic semesters, of which the eighth is allocated for the preparation of the thesis, and corresponds to a total of 240 ECTS credits (30 per semester).
  2. According to par. 1 of article 34 of Law 4777/2021 (Government Gazette 25/A’/17.02.2021), the maximum duration of study is the minimum period of study plus four (4) academic semesters. After completion of the maximum duration of study, subject to the provisions of the following paragraphs, the EPA issues a deed of withdrawal.
  3. In accordance with the applicable provisions and the Internal Regulations of the University of West Attica, procedural details and supporting documents for the exceptional exceeding of the maximum duration of study of the previous paragraph for serious health reasons related to the person of the student or the person of a first-degree relative by blood or spouse or a person with whom the student has entered into a cohabitation agreement.

Article 11 – Suspension of studies – Deletion

The student has the right to interrupt/suspend his/her studies for as many semesters, consecutive or not, as he/she wishes, which, however, may not exceed the number of four (4). The relevant procedure is initiated by an electronic application submitted by the student concerned to the Programme Secretariat, accompanied by the necessary supporting documents, as appropriate, and evaluated by the Programme Committee.

The student has the right to be withdrawn from the FLUSP after his/her application to the Secretariat and is issued with a Certificate of Withdrawal, with simultaneous cancellation of his/her Academic ID.

Article 12 – Αcademic calendar

  1. The academic year shall begin on 1 September and end on 31 August of the following year. The teaching work of each academic year is structured in two semesters (winter and spring). The start and end dates of the courses of the winter and spring semesters of each academic year, as well as the dates of the corresponding examinations, are determined by decision of the Curriculum Committee based on Article 102 of Law 4957/2022 and are included in the academic calendar, which is posted on the Foundation’s website. The same decision shall determine the duration of the summer holidays and shall include holidays within the academic semesters.
  2. Each semester shall include at least thirteen (13) full weeks of instruction. An extension of the duration of a semester shall be decided, in exceptional cases, by the Curriculum Committee. Upon completion of the teaching, examinations of the courses shall be held in accordance with the Academic Calendar and according to a schedule determined under the responsibility of the Director and the EPC. The re-examination of the courses of both semesters (winter and spring) is held in September, according to a schedule determined and announced in the same way.
  3. The Senate may, for exceptional reasons, decide to interrupt the educational process or even the administrative operation of the Institution.
  4. Lectures that are not given due to meetings of the collective bodies of the FLUSP or events of the students must be made up. The substitutions are made under the responsibility of the respective lecturer and after consultation with the students. Likewise, the lecturer must make up a lesson missed due to his/her planned leave of absence or illness/exceptional disability in consultation with the students.
  5. If, despite this, the hours corresponding to the required minimum weeks of instruction in a course are not completed, the course is considered not taught, no examinations are given, and the student(s) must repeat the course.

Article 13 – Enrollment and registration renewal – Course declarations

  1. The student has the obligation to register and declare attendance courses, on dates and deadlines determined by the academic calendar and announced on the FLUSP website, for both the fall and spring semesters. Both registration and course registration of students in each semester are jointly necessary actions for the student to have an active presence at the institution. The Course Declaration is carried out through the University’s information system and the use of institutional codes.
  2. Students who have not declared attendance courses for the fall or spring semester are not eligible to sit for course examinations in both the regular and repeat examination periods.
  3. The declaration of courses must be made each semester by the student himself/herself in order to be able to attend, according to the rules set by the Programme of Studies. The total number of hours of courses that the student may choose to attend is determined at the beginning of each academic year by a decision of the Curriculum Committee.
  4. It is noted that the student is entitled to take an examination only on a course that he/she has declared to attend during the semester in question. Students who have not submitted a course declaration will not be admitted to the semester’s examinations or to the September resit examinations.

Article 14 – Erasmus programme

  1. The procedure for the recognition of courses through the Erasmus Programme is initiated at the request of the student, checked by the responsible Erasmus Programme Coordinator Professor and approved by the Departmental Assembly.
  2. Course matching is carried out by signing the learning agreement prior to the move, with the agreement of the Departmental Coordinators, the bilateral agreement and the Erasmus coordinators for each course.

CHAPTER 3: CURRICULUM ISSUES

Article 15 – Structure of the study programme

The Undergraduate Study Programme requires the successful completion of 36 courses, with 6 ECTS credits for each course, of which:

  • 29 are compulsory courses, with 174 ECTS credits, taught during the first seven semesters.
  • 6 are elective courses 36 ECTS credits. 2 courses are taught in the sixth semester and 4 in the seventh semester, respectively. The student can choose these courses from a pool of courses offered.

In the eighth semester the student is required to complete a final year project thesis (Final Year Project Thesis), which corresponds to 30 ECTS credits.

Article 16 – Curriculum review

  1. The Curriculum may be revised through the same procedure followed for its preparation. The revised Curriculum shall enter into force in September of the following academic year. Individual elements of the programme, such as the course content, the way of teaching a course (theory, laboratory, practical exercises), the workload and course credits, new electives, as well as prerequisite-dependent courses, may be revised each academic year. The deadline for completing the approval process is the end of the previous academic year (August 31). In terms of its essential elements (number and titles of courses offered, learning outcomes, typical semester of instruction and total hours of instruction for each course), the Curriculum is revised – at the earliest – after four (4) academic semesters of implementation.
  2. In order to implement the revised Curriculum, after its approval, a decision of the Curriculum Committee is required, in which the correspondences of all courses between the previous and the new applicable Curriculum are defined.
  3. The procedure of Curriculum revision is carried out by the Curriculum Committee and approved by the Assembly of the supervising Department.
  4. The revised Curriculum shall be posted on the Department’s website.

Article 17 – ECTS credits

All the courses of the FLUSP are assigned a certain number of Credit Units (ECTS), which represent the relative weight and workload of the different courses. The courses and their credit units are presented in detail in the Study Guide of the FLUSP, which is available on the Programme’s website.

Article 18 – Examinations

  1. The responsibility for the proper conduct of the examinations of the Programme lies with the Director of the FLUSP, who shall ensure in a timely manner the appointment of invigilators, the suitability of the premises, the availability of materials and means and, in general, the integrity of the examinations.
  2. The Director of the FLUSP appoints as supervisors of the examination faculty members, laboratory teaching staff members, laboratory technical staff members as well as other categories of teaching staff participating ine Programme, in accordance with the legislation in force.
  3. The examinations are held after the completion of the courses, according to the academic calendar, on dates determined by the Curriculum Committee and announced on the Programme’s website. The re-examination of the courses of both semesters (winter and spring) is held in September on dates determined and announced in the same way.
  4. Each student is entitled to participate in the examination of those courses that were selected in the course declaration.
  5. The FLUSP Secretariat compiles the attendance list per course, according to the submitted course declarations.
  6. Lecturers are informed of the list of students participating in the examination by the electronic application for lecturers’ service, through which they enter the examination marks, within three (3) weeks at the latest from the date of the examination of the course.
  7. At the beginning of the examination, the invigilator(s) shall check the identity of the examinees at the time of the examination.
  8. A student found to be copying in any way (e.g. (e.g. from books or notes, from a student’s writing, with the help of a mobile phone), or colludes with another student or other students, or interferes with the smooth conduct of the examinations, is zeroed, after his/her writing has been marked and initialled by the invigilator who made the finding, and the Director of the FLUSP is informed in order to initiate the disciplinary procedure provided for in accordance with the University’s Internal Regulations and current legislation.
  9. Special provision shall be made for examination of students by alternative methods, provided they have submitted the necessary medical certificates certifying the need for examination by such methods. The methods of examination shall be communicated at the beginning of the semester in the online class of the respective course.
  10. The instructor may post the answers to the exam questions on his/her personal website or in the online classroom of the course after the exam.
  11. The student’s papers shall be kept in the custody of the instructor for one (1) calendar year after the examination is taken and then destroyed, unless criminal, disciplinary or any other administrative proceedings are pending. The instructor(s) shall determine the time and place for displaying the scripts to any interested students after the results are announced.
  12. The evaluation of the students’ performance is carried out by the lecturers on the course. The lecturer may, at his/her discretion, organise written or oral examinations or rely on assignments assigned to students in the course. The student assessment process shall be completed within deadlines set by the lecturer and in any case not exceeding the end of the examination period of the current semester.
  13. The way of assessing the performance of students, as well as all the information concerning each course is indicated in the course outline, which is included in the Course Guide of the FLUSP. If a course has been assigned by the Curriculum Committee to more than one lecturer, the examination of the course may be organized jointly and the way of assessing the students may be either common or different per lecturer, provided that the students are informed of this at the beginning of the semester.

Article 19 – Examination of Students with Disabilities (SWB)

  1. Lecturers shall make the necessary arrangements for the examination of Students with Disabilities (SWB). Both PWDs and lecturers may contact the PWDs’ advisor, appointed by a Curriculum Committee, for more specific instructions to facilitate the participation of PWDs in examinations.
  2. The examinations of SWB are conducted in an atmosphere of respect and acceptance of individuality. The SWB participate in the examinations on the same day and time as the other students. The students are required to submit a certificate of eligibility to the FLUSP Secretariat at the time of registration in accordance with the current legislation.
  3. For all other matters not mentioned here, the FLUSP shall fully follow the relevant provisions as stated in the University’s Internal Regulations and the applicable legislation.

Article 20 – Support for SWB students

  1. The Programme supports SWB students in academic matters (attendance, examination, equal participation in all kinds of educational activities) by adopting specific arrangements for teaching and examination, in collaboration with the SWB Teacher/Advisor.
  2. The Secretariat shall continuously post relevant notices and facilitate the proper service of students in this category. The premises where the XDPA is housed also have lifts and sloping ramps to facilitate accessibility for students with wheelchairs.
  3. When a need arises, the assistance of the Department of Social Welfare and the Access Programme https://prosvasi.uniwa.gr/ is requested.

Article 21 – Grade improvement

A student reserves the right to improve his/her grade in a course that has been successfully examined, upon his/her request to the FLUSP Secretariat.

In such cases, students shall be examined during the examination periods in which the examinations for the course in question are held and not exceptionally. The application is submitted before the examination period on specified dates.

A student reserves the right to improve his/her grade in up to three (3) courses in total during study and only once per course. The higher of the examination grade and the revision grade received by the student will be chosen.

Article 22 – Final Year Thesis

The 8th semester is entirely devoted to the preparation of the Thesis, which is assigned to each student individually, and for which thirty (30) credits are awarded.

  • The Thesis constitutes an independent scientific and systematic approach to the analysis of a topic and is based on existing literature and research. At the same time, the student utilizes and extends the knowledge and skills acquired during his/her studies.
  • The prerequisites for undertaking this are that students must register it in the student register.
  • Information concerning the undertaking/completion/examination of the thesis is posted on the relevant FLUSP website.
  • Students assume responsibility for not committing the offence of plagiarism. In addition, the assignments are also subject to an electronic plagiarism check by the instructor. If plagiarism is found, the disciplinary procedures provided for in the regulations of the institution or in the applicable legislation are initiated.
  • Each assignment submitted is accompanied by the following affidavit, which is attached to the final text before the contents page of the assignment: “I certify that I am the author of this paper and that I have cited or referenced in it, explicitly and specifically, all sources from which I have made use of data, ideas, sentences or words, whether they are accurately transcribed (in the original or translated) or paraphrased. I also certify that this paper was personally prepared by me specifically for this particular Thesis.”
  • A three-member committee is appointed by the Curriculum Committee to examine the Thesis.

Article 23 – Completion of studies ,degree and degree classification

  1. Courses are graded on a numerical scale of 10 (0 to 10) to the nearest tenth of a point (one decimal place).
  2. The final degree is the sum of the multiplication of the course grades multiplied by the number of credits [course grade (B) x ECTS course credits] by the total number of ECTS credits:
    where B1 is the grade of the first course and (ECTS)1 the credits corresponding to it, B2 is the grade of the second course and (ECTS)2 the credits corresponding to it and so on with Bn being the grade of the nth course and (ECTS)n the credits corresponding to it and n the number of courses required for the completion of the studies and the award of the Degree, including the thesis.
  3. The final degree is calculated to the nearest hundredth of a point (two decimal places).
  4. The degree classification for the graduates of the University of West Attica is determined as follows:
    • from 5.00 to 6.49 “Good” (5.00 to 5.74: D, 5.75 to 6.49: D+)
    • from 6,50 – 8,49 “Very Good” (6,50 – 6,99: C, 7,00 – 7,49: C+, 7,50 – 7,99: B, 8,00 – 8,49: B+)
    • from 8,50 – 10,00 “Excellent” (8,50 – 8,99: A, 9,00 – 10,00: A+)

Article 24 – Completion of studies

A student completes his/her studies and is awarded a B.Sc. Degree in “Artificial Intelligence and Data Science”, when he/she has successfully passed the courses prescribed by the Programme of Studies and has successfully supported his/her thesis in public. Upon completion of their studies, students apply to the Registrar’s Office for participation in the graduation ceremony.

Article 25 – Degree award procedure

Graduates of the FLUSP shall be awarded a Degree. In order to participate in the Graduation Ceremony, they must submit to the library an application for a certificate that:

  1. there is not a debt to the library
  2. the thesis has been posted in the online institutional repository

Additionally, the graduates must hand over to the Secretariat the student documents they have issued (e.g. Academic Identity Card etc.).

Upon completion of the required procedures, a certificate of successful completion of studies is issued by the FLUSP Secretariat. The degree (diploma) is awarded after the graduation ceremony (Diploma Ceremony).

Article 26 – Diploma Annex

Upon completion of studies, the Degree Supplement is issued in Greek and English. The Degree Supplement is an accompanying and explanatory document, which does not under any circumstances replace the official Degree Certificate of the FLUSP, and its date of issue is later than the date of issue of the certificate of successful completion of studies or the award of the degree.

Article 27 – Diploma ceremony – Type of Degree

In order to receive their Degree, graduates of the FLUSP shall participate in the graduation ceremony. Participation in the ceremony is not mandatory for completion of studies to be successful, however it is a necessary condition for the award of the Degree.

The graduation ceremony takes place after the end of the examination periods in specified periods, in the presence of the Vice Rector or the Dean as the representative of the Rector, and the Director of the FLUSP.

The text of the guidance document for the graduates of the FLUSP:

“In completing my studies at the University of West Attica, I owe and at the same time wish to conscientiously assure all stakeholders of the Academic Institution that I will serve and treat the values, arts and science of which I have become a student. With an open mind I will study and critically accept all developments in science, technology and culture and with an unwavering will to integrate the specific into the general interest as a responsible citizen.”

Article 28 – Evaluation of the teaching work

The teaching work for all courses of each semester is evaluated by the students through the MDC’s Information System. The evaluation period lasts from the 9th to the 12th week of the respective semester. The Curriculum Committee ensures the organization of the online assessment process for each course in order to maximize student participation.

CHAPTER 4: STUDENT WELFARE

Article 29 – Student rights and obligations

The rights and obligations of students are derived from the provisions of Article 59, Chapter 59. 12 of the Internal Regulations of the Foundation.

It is the student’s obligation to participate in all the educational processes of the programme. Students retain the right to be absent from laboratory courses and up to 20% of the teaching hours of each course.

It is the student’s obligation to pay tuition fees for attending the program within the prescribed deadlines.

Students, upon written request to the FLUSP Secretariat, have the right to interrupt/suspend their studies for as many semesters, consecutive or not, as they wish, which, however, may not exceed the number of eight (8), which is the minimum number of semesters required to obtain a degree. The relevant procedure is initiated by an online application submitted by the interested student to the Programme Secretariat, accompanied by the necessary supporting documents, as appropriate, and evaluated by the Programme Committee.

If the application is accepted by the Programme Committee, these semesters are not considered as study time and therefore do not count towards the maximum duration of study. Student status, with all the rights deriving from it, shall be temporarily suspended during the period of interruption of studies, unless the interruption is due to proven health reasons or reasons of force majeure, in accordance with the relevant decision of the Commission, in which case it shall be maintained.

In cases of student complaints and objections, the relevant Regulations shall apply. The guiding principle for the management of student objections is respect for the diversity of students and concern for their diverse needs, as well as the adoption of flexible learning directions in collaboration with the Curriculum Committee. The promotion of mutual respect between student and teacher is an inviolable rule and for this reason the Programme Director is informed at all stages of the process.

Article 30 – Social Benefits

The UNIWA provides a set of benefits to students aimed at supporting them during their studies. In particular, students are entitled to access to:

  • medical services (University Medical Center).
  • meals
  • transport facilities
  • lecture notes and supportive educational material
  • participation in sports and cultural activities

Information on the above benefits, the beneficiary(s), the supporting documents, and general procedures are provided in Article 60, Chapter 12 of the UNIWA Rules of Procedure.

  1. Students shall be issued an Academic Identity Card, which shall include the Student Ticket Card. The
    Academic Identity Card is strictly personal and may only be used by the entitled student. Any discontinuation of student status automatically terminates the right to possess and use the Academic Identity Card.
  2. In order to obtain an Academic Identity Card with an integrated Student Ticket, students must submit their application online at the website http://academicid.minedu.gov.gr/. Thereafter, and once the application has been approved by the Secretariat, students can collect the special ticket voucher (pass) from a specific delivery point, which they will have chosen when submitting their application.

Article 32 – Student Support Services

  1. The University of West Attica takes care of the support of its students, who for different reasons (students with Disabilities, students from Vulnerable Social Groups (VSG), students with low income) find it difficult to participate in the academic activities required by their studies.
  2. The supervising department of the FLUSP shall appoint Professors/Advisors of SWB and the services of the Institution in cooperation with the Professors/Advisors shall undertake actions to:
    • continuous recording of target group students (SWB, VSG students) and their specific needs
    • assessment of individual functional ability/disabilities in studies – identification and adaptation of assistive technologies
    • counselling and psychological support
    • accessible digital learning material – accessible institutional website
    • volunteering – education – awareness raising
    • compatibility of premises
    • financial support for disadvantaged students in order to restrict dropout
  3. In UNIWA the mission of the Liaison Office is to offer high quality services to the educational community as well as to private and public sector enterprises, organizations, local government services and collective bodies in order to achieve the following objectives.

Αrticle 33 – Academic Advisors – Tutors

Upon registration, each student shall be assigned an academic advisor, who is a faculty member of the University of West Attica teaching at the FLUSP. The academic advisor monitors and collaborates on a regular basis with the student throughout the course of study in matters of education, career guidance and integration into the academic community.

Article 34 – Student Advocate

At the University of West Attica, the institution of the Student Advocate operates in accordance with the Internal Regulations of the University and other applicable provisions, in order to mediate between students and professors or administrative services of the institution, to uphold the legality in the context of academic freedom, to deal with phenomena of mismanagement and to safeguard the proper functioning of the institution. Article 35 – Academic Ethics and Disciplinary Provisions

Issues relating to the academic ethics of the University are included in Article 88 of Chapter 19 of the Bylaws of the University of West Attica, which provides, inter alia, that:

  1. In the context of the right to knowledge, students enjoy full freedom of expression, expression of opinions and circulation of ideas, respecting the principles of objectivity, transparency, and respect for different opinions. The exercise of this freedom must not interfere with or obstruct the teaching task.
  2. Students must treat lecturers and all University staff with due respect and dignity.
  3. It is a basic ethical rule for students to refrain from resorting to plagiarism in the preparation of assignments during their studies. It is forbidden: a) to use the intellectual creations of third parties and to present them as their own in order to fulfil their obligations b) to present work done in collaboration with other students as individual work c) to copy in any form, to collaborate with third parties during any examination procedure, as well as to use any kind of notes, aids and electronic media, unless the lecturer allows their use.
  4. Students are required to respect and protect the University’s facilities and equipment from any kind of damage or deterioration and to ensure the cleanliness of the University’s premises and facilities.
  5. Students shall not use or permit the University’s premises to be used for unlawful acts or acts that are detrimental to the University and shall refrain from acts that are inconsistent with the mission of the Institution, academic ethics and academic freedom.

Article 36 – Special Povisions

For what is not expressly provided for by the legislation in force and these Regulations of the FLUSP, decisions shall be taken by the Curriculum Committee.

Any issue arising in the future that is not covered by the relevant legislation or these Regulations will be addressed by decisions of the competent bodies and, where necessary, by amending the Regulations.
